Why I Can’t Support Hillary

February 21, 2008

Tonight’s Clinton-Obama debate on CNN was another good one – full of substantive policy discussions, intelligent conversation and, for the most part, genuine respect.

Except for when Obama was asked about accusations that he plagiarized statements from Deval Patrick, one his most committed supporters.  The Senator’s response was very well-done – this is a man who gave him the idea of speaking on the power of words and encouraged Obama to use this idea in his speech.  One of his own supporters.  Then Barack said we should be focused debating the issues, not tearing each other down.

Clinton’s response.  “That’s not change you can believe in, that’s change you can Xerox.”  That was disrespectful, petty, inappropriate and rude.  How low can you go?

I want a President who look for the next opportunity not to take a swipe, but instead to make a difference.  That is why Obama is my candidate.  That is why I believe he would make the best President of the United States.

That is why I believe he will be.

Ten Reasons Why You Should Date a Nurse…

February 17, 2008

‘Thought I’d at least provide a little twisted nursing humor while we twiddle our thumbs…

  1. They can help you get over a hangover or sickness
  2. Bedbaths!
  3. The uniform
  4. They are exposed to so many xrays, its like a form of birth control
  5. You will never need to buy condoms, paracetamol (a.k.a. Tylenol), toothbrushes or any hospital supplies
  6. They know how to handle bodily fluids!
  7. Nothing shocks a nurse, they have always seen smaller or indeed bigger!
  8. They wont be disgusted by your toilet habits
  9. They are experienced in manual evacuation when you’re full of crap
  10. They know how to handle the human body!!!!!!!

More to come… :)

5, 6, 7 …

February 12, 2008

…8.

Yes, that’s right, America. Obama has won 8 straight primaries/caucuses since Saturday! Count ‘em (and include the U.S. Virgin Islands). And according to exit polls, he is making major inroads with some demographic groups that have typically gone for Hillary in the past.

He is also ahead in delegates, EVEN if you count pledged superdelegates. It’s going to be a close one to the end, folks. But I swear, if he gets more delegates from state contests and yet superdelegates make Hillary the nominee, the Democratic Party is going to have some serious explaining to do. So are the superdelegates. And given the hope and energy inspired by Obama’s momentum, I think that would be about the worst thing to happen to the party and the country.

Obama’s victory speech was awe-inspiring, as they always are. But what really took my breath away was Akin’s latest video.

Extraordinary…

We Are the Ones We’ve Been Waiting For

February 7, 2008

Big Night

February 5, 2008

It’s all about the momentum, baby! And Obama clearly has it!  With all but 2 states projected, Barack has taken 12 states.  And it’s looking like Missouri will be ours too.  New Mexico is too soon to tell.  Regardless of the final delegate count, it is clear that America has spoken!

As he said tonight in his rousing speech, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”  This election is about telling ourselves, on another, our country, and our world that it’s time for something different.

Incidentally, I noticed CNN is using different shades of blue to show Democratic results tonight.  Clinton is Carolina blue, Obama is Duke blue.  In the spirit of the big game coming up tomorrow, this is just another great reason for me to cheer for Obama!

Today’s the Day

February 5, 2008

The Democratic party makes history today, whatever way you slice it.

Obama has steadily erased Clinton’s lead over the last couple of weeks, and in some polls, has surpassed it. He’s ahead here in California. Statistically, it’s a virtual dead heat. But it demonstrates a trend in the right direction. This country is screaming for something different and Obama is the one to lead the way!

I can’t wait to wear my “I Voted” sticker with pride!!
